The Fairey Firefly is a British Royal Navy fighter-reconnaissance aircraft that was prototyped in 1942 and went into service
in 1943 on the aircraft carrier H.M.S.Idefatigable. It saw its first combat operations in Norway against the German battleship Tirpitz.
It operated mainly in the Pacific and was the first British aircraft to fly over Tokyo. There were 459 F.Mk.I built as fighters and 236
as photo reconnaissance. Other variants were built up to the Mk.7.

This Gmax model uses the Spitfire sounds from CFS3 and the Corsair panel from FS2002. The Spitfire sounds are not aliased.
The paint scheme is that of a Firefly Mk.5 restored in 1972 but minus the D-Day stripes. Many Firefly aircraft were in the green
and tan camouflage. The model has a tailhook but while it is animated in Gmax, I gave up on making it operational in FS2002. I am
still in the novice category. Like most fighters of that era, I found landing better at an approach speed of around 120 knots with
full flaps and half throttle until flare-out then cut the throttle. The aircraft attitude is sensitive to landing gear extension.
